Plus, 21 different definitions of AGI
Hi friends - lots of new jobs coming in; thanks for sharing! It’s been slower on the posts side, so please let me know if you’ve written something or seen a great post from a local author. I’m going on vacation, so no newsletter next week, but I’ll be back in mid-June.
As always, help me keep this space up-to-date: please send me posts, events, and job openings. If you know someone who might enjoy or benefit from this newsletter, please share it with them. [image credit: Gary Hershorn]
Good Local Posts
Randy Au wrote about working with BirdNET, and setting it up with a device to identify nearby birds. It includes features like saving sound clips of the bird calls it detects.
A few weeks ago I mentioned the question of whether o3 is AGI. Sayash Kapoor and Arvind Narayanan argue that AGI is not a true milestone: there's no single capability threshold that leads to sudden, transformative impacts. I’m not sure I totally agree with the assessment, but I did enjoy the list of 21 different definitions of AGI they link to.
Thomas Sobolik of Datadog put together a great list of key metrics for monitoring Airflow. It’s a solid intro to monitoring the orchestrator!
