Good Local Posts
- Julia Goldstein looked at Metacritic to evaluate whether we're in the 'Golden Age of Television'. Game of Thrones makes the top 10 for Drama but is not #1.
- Mike Ghoul looked at employee satisfaction at different banks by scraping Glassdoor.
- Data & Society filed an amicus brief in Carpenter v. United States (link in left sidebar). This is a fairly important Supreme Court case coming up this fall. At issue, roughly, is whether the government has the right to gather cellphone location data without a warrant. It's certainly worth reading their quick summary, and the full amicus if you really want to get into the issues and what's at stake.
Miscellany
- Aleksey Bilogur wrote about becoming a civic technologist.
- The NY Times moved their games (crossword) platform to Google App Engine.
