NYC Data #276: Peeking in A/B Tests, NYC Planning, Smarter Segmentations for Product Analysts, Salesloft, Success Academy Charter Schools
Hi friends: I'm back in NYC after a quick trip to see family. I'm still kind of reeling from how nice LGA is: after decades of complaining about it, I'm not used to it being clean and modern! The waterfall in Terminal B is pretty cool!
As always, please send me jobs, events, and posts by local authors.
Junior Role
Success Academy Charter Schools is looking for a Data Associate.
Mid-Level Roles
There are many roles open at Squarespace, including a Product Manager for our Data Platform. Please let me know if you're interested!
NYC Planning is hiring a Senior Data Engineer. (!)
Salesloft is looking for ML Engineers and Data Engineers.
Marsh & McLennan is looking for a VP, Data Governance (and hopefully a CSS developer too, yikes).
Senior Role
S&P is hiring a Head of Data Management.

Good Local Posts
- Very into this NYC Boundaries Map from BetaNYC!
- A thoughtful (maybe sweet?) piece from Randy Au on making do with the infrastructure you have.
- Ben Perry of Heap wrote a nice post on Smarter Segmentations for Product Analysts. I had never heard MECE (mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive) before but I'm going to use it!
Miscellany
- I loved this piece by James Somers: I should have loved biology. He quotes Lewis Thomas at the top of the piece (one of the great essayists of medicine): I find it appropriate since I think of Somers as developing into our industry's equivalent.
- Great post from Demetri Pananos on handling peeking (ahem, Group Sequential Designs) in A/B tests. This is part of a series he's writing, but is a clear delineation of the impact of peeking and sets up the adjustments that need to be made in a future post. Very relevant for me, and many of you!
Please pass this email along to any good people you know who might be interested in it. To see previous job listings (many of which are still open!) and blogs, check out the archive.
If you want your job or event or blog post to be included in the next version of this email, or if you have suggestions about how this could be better, please let me know!
